Announcing: The Science of Trauma and Recovery

Teaching helping and caring professionals the knowledge and skills to help trauma survivors

Thomas Rojo Aubrey and Robert Rhoton launched their new book, The Science of Trauma and Recovery: Treatment for Survivors. The aim is to teach helping and caring professionals the knowledge and skills to help trauma survivors achieve recovery and improve health, wellness, and well-being.

It is designed to train professionals whose duties require interaction with individuals struggling to function in life because of trauma-induced symptoms caused by exposure to traumatic stress. Professionals will learn how to apply the principles of trauma-informed care and effectively use a trauma-focused recovery and wellness model, which integrates the application of salutogenesis to assist the survivor on a path toward recovery with optimized levels of functional well-being.

The book invites the readers to explore the historical roots of trauma, scrutinize trauma and stress-related disorders found in the DMS 5-TR, and examine the neurobiological effects of traumatic stress on the brain, mind, and body while uncovering misconceptions about trauma. As we redefine trauma using a trauma-informed perspective, the reader will review evidence-based treatments and discover the elements that help trauma survivors achieve recovery. The book will show you how to further enhance recovery by going beyond traditional trauma-centered therapy with a holistic salutogenic approach to working with trauma survivors.

The reader’s in-depth discovery of the science of trauma and recovery climaxes by preparing them for two national certifications.

The Science of Trauma and Recovery is available for single-copy purchase on Amazon, and campus bookstores and faculty departments can receive bulk discounts by contacting XanEdu's sales team.
